Skating and music are a indissolubile binomial, and once more they renew their encounter on the Agorà Ice: November 11th,2006 will be "the Night of Stars". Barbara and Maurizio will be the greatest addition to this show, which will feature in the cats also the Italian champions of artistic skating Karel Zelenka and Vanessa Giunchi and the promises of the junior dance Camilla Pistorello - Matteo Zanni and Isabella Pajardi - Stefano Caruso. The sport meets also the television show: the favourites of "Notti sul Ghiaccio" will also come on the ice": Marilù Guarnieri, Fabrizio Pedrazzini, Federico Uslenghi and Gloria Agogliati, and Dennis that will accompany several parts of the show with its voice.

WE LOVE YOU!!
Yesterday evening I saw the show on Italia1 and I liked it a lot. There will always be critics to the comments, to the choices of pieces to show, to the issues of time, and a lot other. What but I think it remains, is the fact that the skating once more has demonstrated to be a thrilling show, made from serious professionals that never held back on the ice, and that we should deserve the prime time!
We arrived to the MazdaPalace at 15,30, we made the tests until the 19, interviews, lights, waited for patiently that the ice was resurfaced by hand (we open a parenthesis: the thickness of the ice was too much fine (4-6 cm) in order to allow the machine to enter, they could have created dangerous leaks), and without to eat, if not some snack in dressing room, we got ready for the show. The organization had recommended to us to enter in the dressing rooms at the time public started entering in the arena at 20, we, naturally wanted to remains among the people, because it's how we like it, unfortunately the photos with all, or the autograph to all cannot be made, and moreover towards 21 we had also to warm up for the show.... At the end of the show, the bus had compulsorily to leave for the restaurant that by now had been waiting for to us with a delay of an hour for the official supper. You know how much is difficult for us, we would like to be able to be with all the fans that are there to wait for us, but the rules must be respected and we cannot make the other skaters wait too much, or they'll tease us mercilessly on the bus!! I agree with many of you that a session of official encounter before the show would have been good, but part of the cast reached Milan only in the afternoon, and we as an example have been the day before to the COIN of Piazza Cinque Giornate from 18 to 19,30 just for this reason!!! You believe to me, if it was for us, we would want to always exchange again all the affection that you give us constantly, we would want to embrace all of you and ideally we would want all of you on the ice with us, but try also to understand that there are program requirements and that the day has 24 hours also for the athletes. Plushenko and the others are myths, I can say to you that it before arrived from a show the evening to Moscow, had guided 5 hours in machine in order to catch up the airport, waited for others 4 for the airplane and finally it was reached Milan to the 14.30. The next day he has taken the first flight for Moscow in order to make an other show!! It will not be Superman, but little it lacks...

Golden Celebrities on Ice
What a show!

I am still thrilled. An unforgettable evening, saturday to the MazdaPalace we have lived one wonderful page of our career. All the public in delirium and at the end nearly an invasion of field. The affection towards all the skaters has been immense, it made us skate to the maximum, it captured us. The ice was in optimal conditions and impeccable lights and audio. In the first time there was an emotion thread, we knew of having 8,500 persons there for us... but once on the ice all it becomes easy easy, especially when a roar from the crowd welcomes us. We have danced on "Ibelong to the You" as little times we had made: beautiful. In the secod half we just went wild: we wanted to have fun and we knew we had a new program that gets everyone clapping... We have transported ourselves in the magical west and have imagined the splendid duels of Sergio Leone, then th eLine Dance near the end between the applauses. Now it does not remain that to see as it will be the television result, the material is excellent... Wednesday hours 23,30 on ITALIA1. Good vision to all!!!

Venerdì 13 alle 6 c'è stato anche un'incontro al COIN di piazza 5 giornate a Milano.. potevo mancare?? Arrivando ho visto con piacere che un bel gruppetto di persone si era già radunato attorno a Barbara e Maurizio! Ecco qualche foto (poi ce ne sono altre, ma devono ancora arrivare!)...

Just a few days before starting the tour which will bring them to visit lots od north Italian mountain resorts in the next few weeks, Barbara and Maurizio will perform their tour programs in an exhibition which will take place at the open air rink in Boscochiesanuova on August 1st, h 21. Barbara & Maurizio tarring in the Lancia Ice Champions Tour 2006

Tuesday, July 4th: at the Ice Bar in Milano, a press conference was held to present the tour with which Barbara and Maurizio will travel all over northern Italy in august. Even is such a hot and football-absorbed moment, joked Alessandro de Leonardis, it was a great pleasure to see so many journalists took part to the presentation of an event of this icy world: one more proof that the appeal of these disciplines made popular by Torino 2006, is still alive and well.

Programmed from august 3rd to 19th, the tour will reach the most famous alpine resorts and will star a gropu of twenty phenomenal athletes - among which we must note Fusar Poli - Margaglio, Silvia Fontana and Carolina Kostner - fresh from the thrilling experience of the XX Olympic Winter Games of Torino 2006.

Alessandro De Leonardis, producer, artistic director and presenter, takes care of the introduction...
"This year's tour will cover 15 dates, with more than one show in cities like Canazei or Courmayeur - which have a lot of tourists changing during the monthand can thus welcome two dates of the same show... All the ice rinks which will open their doors for us can sit from 1000 to 4000 spectators, they are real great ice stadium whose dimendion are on scale with an event as prestigious as this tour, which will bring both pro athletes (with their great experience) and still competing ones (who guarantee ther excellent physical condition). We have already worked with Lancia for some Galas, in Torino and Catania, but a tour is all another thing, because during a tour you can put together and perfect coral numbers, special effects and lights... there is a possibility of development which enable us to improve the show every day. This year, other than Barbara & Maurizio who are our testimonial in this "special edition" dedicated to them, we will have great names of the ice world like former European champion Dimitrenko, current silver medallists Savchenko & Szolkowy, and many Italians... Carolina Kostner on the 16th at Selva, Silvia Fontana for the whole tour, Karel Zelenka in many dates"…

Barbara is enthusiastic about this new engagement awaiting them: "for us it is a great pleasure being on tour again, after tour, after missing dome edition because of our training and for my pregnancy. We are very attached to this show, we have been working with Alessandro since 94, we've seen the birth of this tour, when there were few dates and few skaters, and not many ice rinks were ready to welcome us - till now, when it has become a big event, with many stars: it's a tour we've always believed in, and I thank Alessandro for his devotion to always promote the world of ice skating, which this season is living a magic moment following the Olympics, but which was almost unknown years ago, whn he was the only one trying to promoting it..."
Barbara also adds: "We are honoured that the tour this season is going to be a "Fusar Poli & Margaglio special edition", even more so because up till now we've been able to be on every single date maybe a couple of times (when you're training for competitions you can't stay away from practice this long!), and it's all a different thing...opening and closing the tour, instead of joining it mid-way, it's so much better... you really become part of the group, and live the experience to the max!"

Maurizio echoes her: "The most important thing for us is the relationship that we can establish with our public, in these moments of meeting and condivision of emotions that a show is: the tour is a passion for us, and for all the athletes skating in it - with the other skaters you build a great group, to create a great show! Ice skating is a sport with a big hearth, which gives lots of emotions and pushes us to give our best out there on the ice, for the crowds filling the tribunes every time, in all the rinks that welcome the tour. We are more than ready, we've prepared new programs just for it, and we can't wait to start".

After a few days, a "world-themed" post-scriptum from Maurizio....

We're very proud of skating in the Stars on Ice 2006 tour in Italy, as protagonists, even more so after seeing our team winning th world Cup beating France... all this makes me remember so many emotions, so many memories, but in particular Vancouver 2001 and that magnificent Kiss and cry, where with 5 judges over 4 we conquered our memorable entreprise! I can't wait to skate for our public and celebrate with them this sensational year, first with Torino 2006 and now with this football world cup.We'll be surely doing our best... we'll wait for you all.

ALIONA SAVCHENKO & ROBIN SZOLKOWY (GER) Multiple and current German champions, European silver medallists, and bronze medallists at the Grand Prix Final.

RADKA KOVARIKOVA & RENE’ NOVOTNY with the PRAGA ICE BALLET (CZE) 1995 world champions and 1998 world professional champions in the pairs discipline, they perform here with a dance group, offering high level technical, artisti and choreographic exercises.

KEVIN VAN DER PERREN (BEL) Several times & current Belgian champion, former Jr world silver medallist in 2002; 6° at Euros in 2005, and 8° at worlds in the same year. Flag-bearer for Belgium at the 2006 Olympics, where he also placed 9th.

SILVIA FONTANA (ITA) Former Italian Champion, current vice-champion and member of the Torino 2006 Italian team. Her best results are a 7° place at Euros, 10° at worlds and 10° at Olys 2002.

Comedy Club
"....the big news now is that we'll take part into a tv show on Italia 1 called "Comedy Club", which will be aired from next tuesday, may 16th, live at 9pm. It will go on for 4 weeks every tuesday, apart from the final show which will be Sunday june 4th, again at 9pm.
The program basically is a contest where some VIPs will challenge each other doing comic sketches. Obviously every vip is "trained" by a real comedian, who will be teaching him the tricks of the trade... Every night two participants will be eliminated, and their places will be ocupied by someone new in the next show. We started rehearsing on thursday, we're paired up with Gigi & Andrea: they're brilliant and we're having more fun than ever!!"

DVD
Another news coming soon, a series of 12 DVDs produced with the Gazzetta dello Sport which should come out arount the begining of september, with the history of figure skating, the stories of the most famous national and international champions, and with all the best moments of this sport. Barbara and Maurizio will be hosts, and will also skate in some parts of the DVDs....

Summer Tour
Here is an engagement that will bring Barbara e Maurizio to visit several Italian ice rinks this summer:
from August 3rd to 19th they will skate in the summer tour organized as always by Alessandro De Leonardis, which will touch several mountain resorts. Coming soon, the full list of dates and venues, and as soon as available, the cast list.

Catania
On May 27th they will be in Catania for a new edition of Stars on Ice, which will be aired on Sportitalia (we don't know yet if it will be live or not... )

Barcelona
From May 19th to 22nd Barbara and Maurizio will be guests at the Laureus Academy Awards, the "Oscar" of the sports world, in Barcelona (Spain)

It took us a while, we know... Barbara, Maurizio, and the webmaster... we all spent February working for or at the Olympics, and even when we all came back home, it took us some time to gather our ideas and re-organize some updates. So we'll start with a corner of self-promotion for the site, with a recap of all the bits we added and updated: apart from this new, fresher look, and finally some news, we can start from the Blog where, together with some photos and notes, you'll also find the frst part of Mauri's diary on this Olympic experience... we wait impatiently for the next part!In the photo galleries you'll find some updates in the competitions with the photos from Nationals and some from the Olympics as well, and in the exhibitions with the photos from the "Stelle di Ghiaccio" gala from January; in the backstage we have found some photos of a practice from this winter, with Barbara and Maurizio working with Radka Kovarikova and René Novotny on spins; in the fan zone you'll also find a few of the e-mails we've received, and a couple of new entriens among the single photo memories as well. Ah, of course we've added this season to the results page!

Before, during and after the Olympics we received lots and lots of e-mails to all the addresses of this site, carrying wishes of love and good luck, encouragements, messages that have made us realize how much the Olympics, figure skating and Barbara and Maurizio's competition have been followed, and how much they all captured the heart of so many people, even bringing new fas to this beautiful sport. To all these people we want to say an enormous "Thank you!", and HERE you can see a selection of a few from the hundreds of messages we received -even if it is only in Italian so far because the webmaster has not been able to translate it yet!
