"for me this was a beautiful and importat experience:it made me discover the great professionalism that lies behind these ice theatre shows, and it allowed me to work with fantastic people and great dancers. I hope to be able to repeat soon this kind of adventure, from which the world of art can only grow! An enormous thank-you goes to Jodi Porter who believed in me from the start of this project and allowed me to express myself at my best, making me live one of the most unforgettable weeks of my life! Another thank-you goes to all the skaters of American Ice Theatre, that welcomed me with enthusiasm from the beginning, and who dedicate themselves to their art with endless passion. A thank-you goes to the Ballet San Jose that with his ethereal dancers gave a touch of class to the whole show. And at last, one more thank-you to the city of San Francisco: inspiring muse, city with a thousand different faces and breathtaking drops & rises, unique and familiar, who welcomed me with open arms".

The Company's artistic director, Ms. Jodi Porter, was also so kind as to send us her comments, and a copy of the press release for the event:

Note from the Director:

"AIT's goal for the May 2nd event was to help promote Ice Theatre to the dance community and produce an event that would showcase local groups to a broader audience. Fusing Dance and Figure Skating together is my dream of extending an art form, melding art and sport. Dance on Ice brought these two worlds together in a successful first time event.

Sunset Tango" was inspired by beauty and passion found in a moment and expressed through the art of dance fused with skating. Set in five sections, "Sunset Tango" explored the many trysts and turns of relationships brought to life through varying styles of tango music. The piece included four Ballet Dancers from Ballet San Jose, Tap Dancer, Anthony LoCascio, American Ice Theatre (AIT) ensemble of 12 skating artists and special guest star Maurizio Margaglio. "It was our privilege and honor for Maurizio to join us as a guest star with American Ice Theatre. He brought an unmatched presence to the piece. Skating to "Santa Maria" by Gotan Project, Maurizio lit up the ice. His poise and electric magnetism was a favorite for the crowd and the other performers alike! Maurizio is a true artist--Special thanks to Mauri for his talent, professionalism, and cajole which will always be welcomed in San Francisco." -Jodi Porter, Artistic Director
